Closing Your Dental Office? Protect Your Investments with these Checklists

Posted by SOTA Imaging on 3/31/20

As the COVID-19 pandemic spreads across the US, increasingly dramatic measures are being taken in an attempt to “flatten the curve.” The American Dental Association (ADA) in mid-March recommended that dentists nationwide postpone elective procedures. If your office is considering temporarily closing its doors, use these distributor checklists to make sure you follow best practices.

Dental Fix: Guidelines for Properly Shutting Down Your Dental Office

Dental Fix issued a checklist to dental professionals to make sure they have guidance for properly maintaining equipment investments in the event they need to close due to coronavirus prevention measures. Guidelines include procedures to follow for your operatory, mechanical room, instrument processing, lab, and computer network. Dental Fix provides a service to perform the office closure protocols, if needed. Read the protocols and find details to schedule a technician here

Patterson: Office Closure Protocol

Patterson breaks down its dental office closure protocol in two parts (1) Steps to take before you leave, and (2) Steps to take while you are out. Among the protocols, Patterson highlights this tip: “Return to the office every 3 - 4 days to turn on the vac and compressor, run warm water through the vac lines and leave running for at least 15 minutes.” Get the full list of protocols here

Henry Schein: Closure Checklist

Henry Schein also created a closure checklist for practices, including steps to take for your mechanical room, operatory, CAD/CAM, technology, lab, and imaging equipment. Among imaging equipment recommendations, the protocols state, “Turn off all x-rays and unplug conebeam/panoramic units. Remove all hand held x-ray batteries from charging cradles.” Access the complete checklist here
